What Boirelle reads, what it costs, and what happens to your photo.
What does Boirelle actually do?
You take one selfie. Boirelle reads your skin's condition and your facial features from it, then builds a step-by-step beauty routine around three things: the state your skin is in right now, the occasion you are getting ready for, and how many minutes you have.
What does it cost?
The skin report and the first two steps of every routine are free. Beyond that there are two choices. Report is $9.99 once and unlocks the full routine for a single analysis, permanently. Unlimited is $79.00 a year and covers every analysis, plus the compare screen and the try-on studio. Both are bought through Apple inside the app.
Do I need an account?
You sign in with Apple. That is the only way in — there is no password to invent and no email address to verify, and Hide My Email is fully supported, so we never need your real address. Your Apple Account is the account. Your scans stay on your iPhone.
Is Unlimited a subscription, and how do I cancel it?
Yes. Unlimited renews once a year until you stop it. You cancel from the subscription settings in your Apple Account, not from us — cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Cancelling stops the next charge; it does not refund the year you are already in. Report is not a subscription and never renews.
What is the difference between Report and Unlimited?
Report buys one analysis and keeps it forever, which suits someone who wants the routine for one particular evening. Unlimited buys all of them, and adds the two things that only make sense over time: the compare screen, which puts two scans side by side and lists what changed, and the try-on studio, which lays shades over your own photograph.
What happens to my selfie?
It is scaled down on your device, sent over an encrypted connection to be analysed, and is not kept on our servers afterwards. We retain the reading — the numbers and words — for up to thirty minutes so that changing the occasion or the time budget does not require a second analysis. On iOS, the photo stays in the app's own storage on your phone and is deleted when you delete the app.
How accurate is the skin reading?
It reads what is visible in one photograph, so lighting, camera and existing makeup all affect it. Natural light and a bare face give the most useful reading. Treat it as a well-informed observation about today, not a clinical measurement.
Is this medical advice?
No. Boirelle gives cosmetic guidance only. It does not diagnose skin conditions, name diseases or recommend treatments. If something about your skin concerns you, see a doctor or a dermatologist.
Why do the routines recommend specific products?
Because 'use a hydrating primer' is less useful than knowing which one. Where a named product genuinely helps we name one, and the link is an affiliate link. We may earn a commission if you buy through it. Which products we recommend is decided before any commission is considered.
Do I have to buy the products?
No. Every step tells you the product category and what to do, so you can use what you already own. The named products are a convenience, not a requirement.
Can I get a refund?
Purchases made in the iOS app are handled by Apple — request a refund through Apple's own process at reportaproblem.apple.com. Purchases made on the web go through Stripe; write to us and we will look at it.
I bought it on my phone. Do I get it on the web too?
Not automatically. The iOS unlock is tied to your Apple Account and restores on any device signed in to it. The web unlock lives in your browser. They are separate purchases because they run through separate payment systems.
What languages does it support?
English and German today. The routine comes back in the language your device is set to.
Does it work for every skin tone?
It is built to. Undertone is read as cool, neutral, warm or olive, and the routine is written against your reading rather than against a default. If a reading looks wrong to you, retake the photo in daylight — poor lighting is the most common cause.
