Terms of service

The agreement between you and Defo Labs LTD when you use Boirelle.

Last updated 18 August 2026

1. Who you are dealing with

Boirelle — the website, the web app and the iOS app — is provided by Defo Labs LTD (“we”, “us”). By using Boirelle you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use it.

2. What Boirelle is

You provide a photograph of your face. Boirelle analyses it, describes what it reads, and generates a suggested cosmetic routine based on that reading, an occasion you choose and a time budget you choose.

3. What Boirelle is not

Boirelle provides cosmetic guidance only. It is not medical advice, it is not a diagnosis, and it is not a substitute for a doctor, dermatologist or pharmacist. It does not detect, diagnose, treat or prevent any disease or condition. Never delay seeking professional advice because of something Boirelle showed you. If anything about your skin concerns you, see a qualified professional.

The readings are generated by an automated system from a single photograph. Lighting, camera, existing makeup and image quality all affect them. They are an opinion about a photo, not a measurement.

4. Cosmetic products and your own skin

Products named in a routine are suggestions. You are responsible for checking the ingredients against your own allergies and sensitivities, for patch testing anything new, and for following the manufacturer’s instructions. We are not the manufacturer or seller of any product named and give no warranty about any of them.

5. Your photograph

You must have the right to upload the photograph you use, and it must be of you or of someone who has agreed to it. Do not upload photographs of children. Do not upload anything unlawful.

You keep every right in your photograph. You grant us only the narrow, temporary licence needed to process it and return your result, as set out in the privacy policy. We do not use your face to train models.

6. Payment

The skin report and the first two steps of any routine are free. Beyond that there are two purchases. Report costs $9.99 as a one-time payment and unlocks the full routine for a single analysis, permanently. Unlimited costs $79.00 a year and covers every analysis, the compare screen and the try-on studio.

Unlimited is an auto-renewing subscription. It renews at the end of each year and continues until you cancel it. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date, from the subscription settings in your Apple Account — cancelling stops the next charge and does not refund the year you are already in.

Purchases in the iOS app go through Apple and are governed by Apple’s terms; they restore on any device signed in to the same Apple Account. Purchases on the web go through Stripe and are remembered in the browser you bought them in. The two are separate — one does not unlock the other.

7. Refunds

For purchases made in the iOS app, refunds are handled by Apple through reportaproblem.apple.com. For purchases made on the web, write to hello@boirelle.com.

Because the routine is delivered immediately, if you are a consumer in the UK or EU you are asked to agree that delivery begins at once, which means the statutory 14-day cancellation right ends once the routine is unlocked. This does not affect your rights if the service is faulty or not as described.

8. Acceptable use

  • Do not attempt to extract, scrape or resell the analysis or routines.
  • Do not attempt to bypass the paywall or the rate limits.
  • Do not attempt to reverse engineer, disrupt or overload the service.
  • Do not use Boirelle to build a competing dataset or model.

We may suspend access where these are broken.

9. Availability

We aim to keep Boirelle running but do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change or withdraw features. If we withdraw the service entirely, unlocks bought shortly beforehand will be refunded.

10. Our liability

Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited — including your statutory rights as a consumer.

Subject to that, and to the fullest extent the law allows: Boirelle is provided “as is”; we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss; and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

11. Intellectual property

Boirelle, its name, its design and its software belong to Defo Labs LTD. Your routine is yours to use personally; it is not licensed for redistribution or commercial use.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Continuing to use Boirelle after a change means you accept it.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections of your own country’s law.
